报告题目：What Affected the Evolution of Capital City Location During China’s 2000-Year History? An Empirical Analysis Based on Quantitative Economic History

报告摘要：This study surveys all the theoretical hypotheses on the choice of the location of the national capital city, examines the probability of 80 candidate cities becoming the national capital from 246 BC to 1913 AD in Chinese history, and finds that the relative location in terms of the economic dependence on the national economic center and the political dependence on the emperor’s rising place (usually the birth place of emperor) play a very important role. However, other hypotheses have not been verified so systematically and robustly. Our study confirms the validity of the regional central place theory (RCPH) and also proves that Chinese cultural and political traditions affected the choice of the location of the Chinese capital city greatly. This study deepens our understanding of the frequency and wisdom with which the locations for the Chinese capital were changed in the pre-modern period.

报告人简介：赵红军，复旦大学经济学博士，上海师范大学商学院教授，副院长，2008年上海市曙光学者，2009年上海市浦江学者。2007－2009在上海财经大学从事中国经济转型方向博士后研究，师从著名经济学家田国强和文贯中教授。2007－2008年获国家留学基金资助赴美国芝加哥大学东亚问题研究中心进行访问研究。研究方向主要为中国经济转型、制度与发展经济学、经济思想史。曾主持过国家哲社、教育部哲社科一般课题、上海市哲社等多项课题，三次获得上海市哲学社会科学优秀成果二等奖、三等奖。在《经济研究》、《经济学季刊》，Review of Developmemt Economics, Frontier of Economics in China, 《南开经济研究》、《财经研究》、《上海经济研究》、《城市发展研究》、《社会科学》等杂志发表过多篇论文。为《经济学季刊》、《中国社会科学》、《世界经济文汇》、《国际商务研究》、《社会科学》杂志匿名审稿人。
